Ford GT40 Mk I Winner Le Mans 1969
The 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans was the last time at Le Mans where drivers would run across the track to their cars, starting them, and then start racing. Towards the end of the fight, the Ford GT40 and Porsche 908 kept overtaking each other. As a final move, Jacky Ickx let the Porsche 908 driven by Hans Herrmann to pass him early in the Mulsanne Straight, allowing Ickx to use the slipstream from the 908. Using the slipstream allowed Ickx to get in front once again, and beat the Porsche 908 by 394 feet. This GT40 chassis also won Le Mans the previous year, making it the second time a car won Le Mans back to back.
This back-to-back Le Mans winning Ford GT40 MK1 is expertly crafted by Spark Models. Perfect for a Ford fan, Le Mans afficianado, or collectors of anything in Gulf livery.
