The first real F1 car Matra raced was the MS10, which was powered by the Ford-Cosworth DFV V8 motor. The MS10 used aerospace construction methods to gain a competitive edge, and featured bagless fuel tanks, allowing for greater chassis rigidity. In 1968, Jackie Stewart was close to being able to win the season championship, but missing the two races at the start of the season cost him the championship.
